The Nigeria Football Federation’s Executive Committee on Thursday accepted the Technical and Development Sub-Committee’s recommendation that Coach Augustine Eguavoen, the Federation’s Technical Director, remain Head Coach of the Super Eagles and guide the team in their 2025 Africa Cup of Nations qualifying matches against Libya the following month.
In Matchdays 1 and 2 earlier this month, the 58-year-old, temporarily in charge of the team he had captained three times before, guided the three-time African champions to a 3-0 victory against Benin Republic and a scoreless draw with Rwanda.
Eguavoen will lead the Super Eagles B team throughout the qualification campaign for the CHAN, or the African Nations Championship, in addition to the present technical group, which also consists of Fidelis Ilechukwu, Daniel Ogunmodede, Olatunji Baruwa, and Tomaz Zorec. The Technical and Development Sub-Committee recommended that Coach Justin Madugu lead the remaining technical staff and take charge of the Senior Women National Team, Super Falcons, while a substantive Head Coach is appointed. The Executive Committee approved this recommendation in light of Mr. Randy Waldrum’s departure.
Next up for the Super Falcons is the Women Africa Cup of Nations finals, which will take place in Morocco during the summer of 2020.
