Afrobeats musician Ayodeji Balogun, also known as Wizkid, has reignited his long-running feud with fellow musician David Adeleke, also known as Davido, by launching a new verbal spat on social media.
The two previously sparred on X (formerly Twitter) in May, during which Wizkid made fun of Davido and Mavin Records CEO Don Jazzy. The most recent altercation occurs only months after that.
Wizkid posted a video of Davido groveling for fresh songs at the time, dismissing Don Jazzy as a “influencer.”
But on Tuesday, the drama reappeared after Davido leaked a preview of his 2024 debut track. On the same day, Wizkid also intended to release the lead single off his much awaited album “Morayo.”
Unexpectedly, Wizkid was made fun of by Davido’s associate, Kayode Yajaur, better known by his stage name Black Tycoone, for the delay in the release of his album. “Tell your Daddy to drop an album already,” he tweeted.
The Grammy Award-winning singer said, “P***y boys dropping mid again,” on X, not to be put off. “Una don tire!” she said. Tiny, make una go rest!” Wizkid didn’t mention Davido by name, but fans quickly saw the post as an obvious jab at the “Fem” crooner.
A supporter of Davido retaliated against Wizkid, accusing him of trying to gain influence by including Davido in his drama on the internet. The user tweeted, “So your song wont sell if you no beef @davido?” Without any delay, Wizkid responded, saying, “I don’t beef wack niggas! Everyone knows he’s crazy! Not a single talent!
Wizkid persisted in his outburst, calling Davido’s whole album “trash” and boasting about his own musical abilities, unwilling to let the issue go. “Eighty rubbish! We have 80 records for every song you release! P***y boys, he continued. In response to Wizkid’s constant insults, Davido has said nothing.
There is much conjecture that Davido’s recent performance at Tony Elumelu’s UBA anniversary in the US may have been the cause of the most recent conflict. The millionaire businessman Davido entertained the guests and posed for photos with them, but Wizkid—a UBA brand ambassador—was noticeably missing from the occasion.
Fans and celebrities have voiced their opinions about the feud on social media in response to the back-and-forth. Some people are upset that Wizkid has rekindled the feud, while others are eager to see if Davido would eventually reply.
