Lagos State Police have arrested a nurse following the death of a 36-year-old woman, identified only as Abiola, who died after a failed butt-lifting procedure.
According to Police spokesperson SP Benjamin Hundeyin, the nurse was detained after the Maroko Police Division received a report on Tuesday around 11:40 am. The report came from Abiola’s driver, who had taken her to a clinic in Lekki Phase 1 for a Brazilian Butt Lift (BBL) injection on Monday at around 3 am.
Hundeyin explained that Abiola, who lived in Diamond Estate, Sangotedo-Lekki, requested the procedure and was taken to the clinic by her driver. Upon arrival, a nurse at the clinic administered the injection. Shortly after, Abiola lost consciousness and began gasping for breath.
She was rushed to another hospital in Lekki Phase 1, where doctors confirmed she had died. Following the report, police detectives visited the clinic and the hospital. They inspected and photographed Abiola’s body before it was moved to a public morgue for an autopsy.
The nurse involved has been arrested, and the police investigation into the incident is ongoing.
